True Movies you must show this true movie of a shocking tale of the seven year abduction and rescue of Steven Stayner "From now on call me dad" It was a two part movie but very powerful and very shocking! Take note true movies! Anyone else would like to see this on tv?

I agree. This is a fantastic series. Actually, I bought it originally when I was at the BBC! I will do my best to acquire this for you all.

Hey Paul, Good on Ya, I posted a message about this film a while back. It stars Corin Nemic and Cindy Pickett and is one of the best series I've seen. Every parent should watch it. The real grown up Steven Stayner actually plays a cameo in the film as a cop. Ironically, a few years ago, his brother, (whose character appears in the movie), was convicted of murdering three women near Yosemite National Park. An odd twist to a very sad family history. Have read the book over and over and could see the series over and over.

Yeah it was truly a moving story another interesting fact the real Steven Stayner died shortly after they made this movie in a motorcycle accident. After everthing he went through. I wonder what happened to the other little boy Timmy?

Paul, yes the real Steven did die in a motorcycle accident and I have always suspected this was really a suicide. Although he married and had children, he seemed headed on a self destructive course after his ordeal. The book points out his parents were against any counseling. The worst irony of the story is that his abductor, who already had a rap sheet a mile long, was given only a few years in prison. I wonder if that would be the case now. Let's hope TM can show this movie.

I've posted before about this movie, but I'll do so again. Seeing as TM is managing to get us "Small Sacrifices" it's worth keeping up the pressure. PUHLEEZ TM, get ahold of "I KNOW MY FIRST NAME IS STEVEN"!!!

i love this movie too. i was actually reading recently that after his abductor got out of prison he asked his nurse to help him buy a young child. she went straight to the police and they arrested him after an investigation. steven was dead by then but the young boy timmy, who was grown up by then, faced him in court and told of his ordeal.

A great film and I have seen this before. It was a film I saw many years ago and it was the first time I ever knew about terrible crimes against children :(

It should be shown again it's just a shame for the Stayner family as they ended up losing 2 sons in the end with Steven dying in that accident and then his brother Cary Stayner being convicted for murder.
